Mysteries

I've been reading my favorite mysteries recently. Four of them are by Blue Balliet, one is by Elise Broach, two of them are Inside the Shadow City and The Empress's Tomb in the Kiki Strike series by Kirsten Miller.

Chasing Vermeer, The Wright 3, The Calder Game, and The Danger Box by Blue Balliet

Shakespeare's Secret by Elise Broach

Wish List:
Nantucket Ghosts by Blue Balliet

Masterpiece & Desert Crossing by Elise Broach

The Columbian Conspiracy by Kirsten Miller.

Chasing Vermeer:
Summary:
This is a truly ingenious book about coincidences and a lost Vermeer painting, A Lady Writing. Two sixth graders, Calder Pillay and Petra Andalee must work together to find it, and solve many mysterious disappearances, including the disappearance of Frog, the neighbor of Calder's best friend that moved away.

Reaction:
I thought this was a really interesting book, and it wasn't your average mystery. They don't find the painting by looking for clues; they find it by coincidences. How they found the painting, and who was behind the theft of the painting, was kind of confusing for me. But it was overall a really good book, and the characters had a lot of personality. With illustrations by Brett Helquist, I would give this book a 9.99 out of 10.
